Project 1 / Mouse Machine

This little movie of a mouse making letters come out the bottom of a piano, is just basically that. It was good practice in figuring out how to use the programs and allowed me to figure out exactly what it is I need to work on to figure the program out. In the future I hope to figure out a way to make the movements in my video smooth, as the ones in this video are very choppy. I also hope to find a better system in working with the pieces of the video in collaboration with each other instead of working with each movement so separately from one another. Hopefully by figuring out a better system these problems with be resolved.

Project 2 / Barbie Girl

This little video is an attempt at humor while depicting the way that media shows women how to behave and look. Often television and cultural phenomena like barbies plays a big part in the way that society looks at what is cool or sexy. Barbies, with their perfectly symmetrical features, long legs, and tiny waists are the most obvious example of what is considered the "perfect" female appearance in American celebrity culture. In this video when a girl drinks a barbie she is turned into one herself, this being a really obvious take on the effects of that sort of media stereotype.

Project 4 / Pamela Anderson

In this video, a little girl lists the reasons why she wants to be Pamela Anderson someday. This is about how media and celebrity have an effect on the way that we see ourselves and what we look up to and emulate. The way that little girls are brought up surrounded by what it means to be "female" we can wind up looking for people to look up to in the wrong places.

Final Project / Riot Grrrl

This is a little educational animation about the Riot Grrrl movement in the 90s and it's origins. I'm pretty passionate about Riot Grrrl and think it's sad that so many male musicians of the punk movement are idolized while female punk gods are forgotten. Lately I've been working a lot on things that re-introduce the topic of female punk culture. I thought it'd be cool to do an informational video about it.
