Project 1 / We Love the Ocean

In this project, I learned about how to create web animation by using HTML 5 and CSS language. This is the first time I get to know the power of CSS. Before that, I thought web animation is only the job of Flash or JavaScript. The goal of “We Love the Ocean” is to inspire people to care about the ocean and the sea wildlife. The ocean not only brings us beautiful sight but also provides food, water, medicine and even the air we breathe. However, today it faces threat from pollution, trash and impacts from climate change. It’s time for us to save the ocean and make a difference.

Project 2 / Invisible Cities: Tamara

This is the digital post card designed for the “Invisible Cities: The City of Sign”. Tamara is a city exists beneath a thick coating of signs. When you visiting it, you may think knowing everything about it, but you leave Tamara without having discovered it, because the eye doesn’t see things but the image of things that mean other things. The interacted two typefaces imply the real city and its reflection in visitors’ eyes. In this work, CSS and jQuery are used to create the motion, which depict the intangible and volatile character of the city.

Project 3 / The Most Spoken Languages of the World

It is difficult for people who have no language in common attempt to communicate with each other. There are more than 6800 distinct languages in the world. As more and more people are studying, traveling or doing business abroad, languages barrier becomes the biggest problem for them. There are four groups of people that can easily encounter language problems: international students, businessman, travelers and migrants. This infographic illustrates the need of different group of people who want to communicate with others in non-native languages. JavaScript is used to create impressive and convincible data form, and lead to a better understanding about the urgency of this problem. The solution is a pair of glasses, which is called “LingoGlassed”. It is a high technological product that can translate any languages into the user’s native language.
